1.Noisy greetings of Perú,Felipe! How going the things in Rot?
Greetings from Brazil, David. Well, we are playing in some gigs and writing new songs. Last year we recorded three songs. They are avaiable on Youtube as a virtual EP named "Worshipping their own chains". We are going to play at Obscene Extreme in 2019, and we are very happy because of this.
2.Rot is a old school band of intense and loud grindcore;Give us a trip by the chaotic existence of Rot!
Rot plays since 1990. I was five years old in 1990, then I didn't hear Rot in this time... hahaha Would be better if you ask to Mendigo, the foundator. He would have a lot of stories to tell you about Rot. I am in the band since 2016, it's very recent. But take the road with this guys is always very nice.
3.Discography of Rot?
Rot released a lot of albuns, tapes, splits with bands like Agathocles, Intestinal Disease, Subcut, Entrails Massacre, Wojczech, Yacopsae and others. The first record was the tape "Prisoner of my fear", in 1991. The full albums are "Cruel Face of Life" (1994), "Sociopathic Behaviour" (1999), "Your lie is gone - Your day has come" (2002), "A long cold stare" (2003). There is a lot of compilations in tape and CD, like "Old Dirty Grindcores".
There are lots of influences, all bands that we heard, grindcore or not grindcore, are influences to us. I like Agathocles and old Napalm Death, but I don't hear modern grindcore, or death-grind. I could say many bands, but I don't know if the other guys would agree with my choices... hahaha I think Hiatus and old Celtic Frost are greats influences. And the obvious: Discharge, Anti Cimex.
Yes. Alex plays at Cruel Face. Emiliano plays at Skarnio. Henrick plays at Xico Picadinho and Trassas. I play at Fear of the Future and Stench of Death. In the moment, Mendigo is the only member that doesn't play in other bands.
6.Felipe explain some more about the actual grindcore scene from your city and recommend some bands.
São Paulo has a lot of grindcore bands. There are many gigs, and we always play with other bands grindcore or crust. Specifically in the grindcore genre, I'd say that some great bands in activity at São Paulo are: Obitto, Western Day, Dead Cops, Banni Conflict, Plague Rages, Subcut. In Brazil there are great grindcore bands, you know, like Expurgo, Facada, Lepra.
7.Rot knows the grindcore of Peru?
Honestly, I know SFC, because they were on tour at São Paulo recently. They are amazing. I've started to follow your zine, and I hope to know other bands from Peru there.
8.Stuff avaliable of Rot at the moment? where the grinders can find the stuff?
Well, the most recent material is avaible on Youtube, the EP "Worshipping their own chains". The EP "Nowhere" is still avaiable on vinyl, tape and CD. You can write to Bucho Discos and ask him about other materials.
We want to record new songs in 2019. Maybe a EP or a LP, we don't know yet. But we are writing the songs, and we will have news soon.
Thank you so much for the interview, nice to meet you and nice to know your zine. I hope we can play at Perú soon, why not? Keep the grindcore live, see you around
