Interview - Idiot Ikon

1.Chaotic greetings from Perú, Fabbe! How going the things in Idiot Ikon?
Hi David. We’re getting back to our activities right now after almost a year working on our latest record and taking care of our personal life without the band. We have just played at a local festival called Stockholm Hardcore Fest in a couple of weeks we’re going to share the stage with Asocial and Bristle and still in the fall we’re going to play a festival in Norway.

2.Tell us how is form this destructive noisy band called Idiot Ikon? How’s been the beginning?
The band started with me on guitar and Daniel when we decided to share our common taste in music. We used to live in the same neighborhood back then. Our firs rehearsals took place at Wolfbrigade’s Jocke basement which later on turned to be Wolfden studio in another and bigger place. I was playing with Clutches at the same time, but the band was never really active with a few gigs and two unreleased recordings under 5 years. The band dissolved and one of the singer in Clutches, Maria and the bass player Calle joined the band. Already in the beginning Maria recruited Niklas Holm to join in the second guitar and we did a lot of gigs, a tour and a recording with this line up. Niklas decided to leave the band to focus in another project and his personal life.

3.Destructive discography?
Split 12” lp with Passiv Dödshjälp, compilations Turist i Tillvaron vol. 8, Dimmorna Skingras vol. 3, Hygget 2016 and an upcoming 12” lp.

4.Loud influences?
That’s a hard question since everything I listen turn to be an influence but basically Discharge, Anti-Cimex and Motörhead.

5.Some members from Idiot Ikon have another project parallel?
Calle and Daniel play in Smierc a band with female singer in polish and with influences of classical polish punk bands. I sing in Terrorvälde which is a d-beat band that I sing in portuguese and I play guitar in a country/Americana band called Hangman’s Daughter.

6.Fabbe explain some more about the actual d-beat crust scene from your city and recommend some bands.
I actually have not been involved directly in some sort of specific scene. There are crusties, punx, straight edges, etc. Unfortunally I can’t answer this question. There are several bands around but not necessarily crust. Not too many new “crust” bands in Stockholm at least that I know. There’s Society’s Decline and Exploatör that I can come up with right now. There’s quite a lot of d-beat bands but they are spred all around Sweden.

7.Idiot Ikon knows the d-beat crust scene from South America?
Yes. I’m originally from Brasil so we have a good idea on that.

8.Stuff available from Idiot Ikon at the moment? where the punxs can find the stuff?
None right now. We have a new record on the way and a couple of new shirt designs. Ask your distro to get it from the labels. Other two alternatives are going to our gigs or write to us.

9.Morbid future plans?
Nope. Just try to keep the wheels rolling through song writing and a few gigs now and then.

10.Last words Fabbe and thanks for your time in this interview.
Thank you for your interesting. Keep the spirit burning.
