Interview - Perpetuated

1.Putrid and brutal greetings from Perú, Matt! How going the things in Perpetuated?

Matt: Things are going great! We have some sick shows lined up over the winter and a new 7” EP in the works.

2.Tell us how is form this sick and infernal band called Perpetuated? Hows been the beginnings?

Matt: The first Perpetuated riffs came from Demir jamming some death metal at practices for other projects where we would
all hang out. We already knew each other from other bands so it just kind of came together from that and a love for death metal!

Paul: Our guitar player Demir had songs he had been composing for a while. Demir asked us to join his project and bring his songs to life. We were all excited at the opportunity to play some old school death metal.

3.Official discography?

Matt: So far just our demo tape, “Cursed Earth”. We will also be featured on the Whirlwind Struggle Vol. I compilation 12” out next month, and we just finished recording for a new 7” EP due out this winter.

Paul: We have a self produced demo out on born dead records and are featured on a compilation released by the same label.

4.Destructive influences?

Matt: We have a wide range of influences between us, but old school death and thrash bands are the biggest in this band. Big influences for me personally are stuff like Morbid Angel, Ripping Corpse, Solstice, etc. I really love those late 80’s/early 90’s death metal records…they just sound so nasty and aggressive.

Paul: We all have a wide range of influences when it comes to extreme metal/ heavy music. We all love the classics such as morbid angel, obituary and incantation. While some of are mainly into metal, we have an appreciation for hardcore punk and the DIY attitude

5.Some members from Perpetuated have another project parallel?

Matt: All of us have other projects. Paul and John are both in the grindcore band Tomb Warden. Demir plays in the death metal band Genocide Pact, as well as the hardcore influenced bands Execution Hour and Acquisition. I play in the sludgy grind band Bottomfeeder and run the DIY label Born Dead Records.

Paul: Yes, John (vocals, guitars) and Paul (drums) play in a grindcore band together called tomb warden. Matt( bass) plays in a  brutal sludgy metal act called Bottomfeeder. Demir (guitar) plays in a few projects!! Genocide pact, Execution Hour, Secular Media, Acquisition.

6.Matt explain some more about the actual death metal scene from your city and recommend some bands.

Matt: We’re very fortunate to have a good community here in Washington, DC. There’s several DIY promoters who consistently put on sick gigs, and the people in the scene are very dedicated. There are some great bands going at the moment. Brainpan is a local powerviolence band that just released a really crushing new LP. Needle is a really impressive grind band from some younger kids who are already really sick. We also have some heavy hitters in the death metal scene with bands like Ilsa and Genocide Pact.

Paul: We are really stoked and excited to be a part of dc’s diy metal scene. It’s a very accepting and talented scene. Everyone we deal with is respectful and has a love for the music. Genocide Pact is definitely the best we have to offer right now!! Check out their new album on relapse records!!

7.Perpetuated knows the death metal scene from South America?

Matt: I’m familiar with a few South American bands, but not many. Sepultura are of course a huge influence on Perpetuated, as they are for most who play death metal! As for the current scene and active bands i’m not so familiar. Maybe you can recommend me some bands!

Paul: We would love to make more friends in South America and eventually play there some day!! Hails!!!!

8.Stuff available from Perpetuated at the moment? Where the maniacs can find the stuff?

Matt: We still have a few copies of our demo left, as well as some shirts, stickers and such. All of our stuff can be found at www.borndeadrecords.net.

Paul: You can find our music on our band camp page and also the born dead records website.

9.Morbid future plans?

Matt: As I mentioned we just recorded some new tracks for a 7” EP due out early 2019. We will be doing some touring in support of that here in the US and then working on a full length record.

Paul: We will be continuing to play some bad ass shows into the new year and putting our a new ep. we’re really proud of the record. It’s fast, heavy and brutal!!

10.Last words Matt and thanks for your time in this interview.

Matt: Thanks for your time as well! Stay fucking morbid!

Paul: We really appreciate your support. Much love and respect from the depths of Washington DC!!!
