Interview - Brain Tourniquet

1.Fast and furious greetings of Perú,Angelo! How going the things at Brain Tourniquet?
Things are good with Brain Tourniquet our 7” just came out yesterday and our first show is on Sunday in DC with Arms Race!

2.Hows been the begings at Brain Tourniquet?
Brain Tourniquet started really before I was actually in it, Robin who plays bass and Connor who fronts had planned on doing this band for a while I think and they had already wrote a few songs each for it when they asked me to drum for it. They are both a few years older than me and have been in a bunch of bands together, they had seen me drum in some of my other bands like Needle and also we knew eachother from the DC punk scene already. We practiced a few times with Connor playing guitar and then decided my friend Ronald should play guitar cus he already plays in Needle too and is really good. That’s basically how it started!

3.Noisy discography of Brain Tourniquet?
Our whole discography so far is just the 7” that released yesterday, we’ve only been a band since the winter time

4.Influences of impalement at Brain Tourniquet?
Our biggest influences are probably No Comment and Crossed Out, also Infest and other classic powerviolence of course. Plus a little Black Flag too.

The guitarist and I are in a grindcore band called Needle, Robin and Connor are both in a bunch of other bands, Connor drums for Genocide Pact and Red Death and fronts Protester, Robin was the drummer for Pure Disgust and is in a band called Truth Cult and Guilt Parade now. I’m in a few other bands too besides Needle, a d-beat band called Corvo, a punk band called CDR and a new band that i front called Ztuped

6.Angelo explain some more about actual grindcore powerviolence scene from your city and recommend some bands.
The grindcore and powerviolence scene is pretty cool, we have a few really good bands from here like Coke Bust, DOC, Magrudergrind too but they are around anymore. Besides my bands there’s a band called Tomb Warden that’s sick as fuck, another grind band that’s blowing up right now No Más are my friends in DC

7.Brain Tourniquet knows grindcore powerviolence scene of Southamerica?
I’m sure robin and Connor and Ronald all know more about South American powerviolence, Ronald our guitarist actually is South American he’s Bolivian. I personally don’t really know any South American powerviolence to be honest which is a shame
