1.Cadaveric greetings from Perú,Rich! How
going the putrid things at Effluvia?
Things are great. We are getting ready to
prep a few releases that are going to be released November 16. There’s just so
much going on for us lately and all of it’s been very positive.
2.Hows been the bestiality begings at
Effluvia?
It’s been a “grind”, pun intended. We are
from Lakewood , Washington in the states. Both me & Garth(Effluvia
Guitarist) we’re in a previous death grind band called Defecated Corpse way
back in late 1989. After that band split up, Garth started Effluvia in 1992 as
a solo one-man-band project. After many drummers and bassists galore came and
went, Wayne started jamming with Garth and this 2 man band project was steady
for quite a few years while still auditioning different drummers. 8 years
later, Garth had a chance encounter with Rich(me), the old Defecated Corpse
drummer and the rest is history. It wasn’t until 2002 until Effluvia actually
hit the stage for the first time and it was a difficult time in Seattle for any
metal band at that. Emo was a big genre and a lot of extreme music was pushed
aside and rarely even given a notice during this time. Fast forward to 2016,
with many hiatuses, Effluvia came back with a roar and has played and recorded
non-stop ever since.
3.Aberrant discography of Effluvia?
The first official demo would be 1993’s
World Termination with Garth doing all of the instruments and vocals. Fast
Forward to 2003 and another demo with Rich on the drums was Ponders Corner.
2004 we hit an actual studio and recorded Cadaverous Compost. The self-titled
EFFLUVIA album was originally recorded back in 2005 but we started the first of
a few hiatuses and it was buried and officially released in 2017. In 2018 we
released Laboratory Casualties.
4.Deadly influences at Effluvia?
Pretty much the big ones in grind… Napalm
Death, Terrorizer, Assuck, etc. There is literally too many bands to name but
all of us like many different genres other than grind. From classic rock to alternative
there really is no limit for inspiration for us.
5.Some members of Effluvia have another
proyect paralell?
OF course, what restless musician doesn’t.
Wayne just released “Diarrhea Of A Madman”; a joke death grind project. Garth
& Wayne have Mangled Overture; a black atmospheric metal inspired project.
Garth has a solo instrumental metal album simply called Garth. Rich has quite a
few projects: Hydraulic Death, P.I.Z.Z., Broken Throat, Aeolotrope,
Slaughtering Rage, Vladhalla, Verona Asthma, Blistered Zygote just name a few.
There’s also a sort of Effluvia lite called Bludgeoning Pipe with Rich doing
drums and guitars and Wayne bass and Vox and Garth backing guitars and solos.
We have so much more projects in the works. Washington has a drought of drummers
so Rich(me) always is being asked to be a part of some project.
6.Rich explain some more about actual
pestilent death metal scene from your city and recommend some bands.
We are seeing a resurgence of thrash and
old school death metal. There’s a lot of great bands from here but some notable
ones would be Oxygen Destroyer, Fetid, Kommand, Toxic Reign, Cerebral Rot,
Hacksaw, Dilapidation… There’s just so much good stuff coming out the Northwest
in the last few years.
7.Effluvia knows infernal death metal scene
of Southamerica?
Facebook makes this big world so accessible
to us and that’s what we are thankful of. With that being said. Just like up
here in the northwest there’s so much great stuff coming out of brazil such as
Podridao. I’ve heard a few Venezuelan bands such as Wrathful. It’s just such a
great time for independent music distribution in general and if someone says
there’s no good bands anymore then they just are not looking in deep corners of
the world.
8.Stuff avaliable of Effluvia at the
moment? where death metal maniacs can find the stuff?
Or you can e-mail us at effluviatacoma@gmail.com to see if
we have some rare stuff or sold out stock or to just ask us anything.
9.Gruesome future plans at Effluvia?
Like I wrote before, we are releasing
“Return To Ponders Corner” on November 16th. We also have a rare
limited-edition release that can be picked locally only called “Thea’s Wrath”.
Plus, Broken Throat and Bludgeoning Pipe are having new releases coming out
November 16th also. We are also doing a ton of splits coming up next
year and another Full length should come out late 2020.
10.Last words Rich and thanks for your time
in this interview! Regards!
Thank you to everyone that has ever
supported us. I know we are not for everyone but even the ones that think we
suck have eventually given us the respect we’ve slaved for. Keep looking for
great bands and albums and cheers. -Rich
